Thursday in class, we learned something cool. We learned how to make our own favorites page on the Internet, using PowerPoint. Anyone can do this. You just open a new PowerPoint page, and open an Internet page. Then go to your favorite sites. Find the pictures or symbols that represent the site. For example: Google. Save the picture in a new folder. Every time you go to a site and copy the picture, save it into the same folder. Then, when you open your presentation, go down to the drawing toolbar, click the 'insert picture' and from the folder you saved your images in, choose one. Once your finished inserting all your images, click on one, go up to the menu bar, insert, hyperlink and write in the address you got your image from. For example; if you clicked on the google image, insert hyperlink and in the address bar, type- http://www.google.ca/
Decorate your slide, because its going to be your Internet page. So now, every time you open Internet explorer, the page you created will be there, and you simply click on the image of the site you want to visit and your good to go!
But the only way that will work is if you save your work properly. First save it as a PowerPoint presentation, then save it as an HTML. Then when you open Internet, you can open your page easily.
See ya.

How much do you know about powepoint?
The time has come for everyone to show their knowledge of Power Point. Were having a test on Monday on everything we've learned about PowerPoint so far. But the catch is that we've been learning new things about PowerPoint, like what are some features of each of the toolbars, how you can add animations, view slide shows and stuff like that. This is also a good opportunity to get familiar with all the features of powerpoint that we hadnt discovered before. To prepare for this test, the only thing we can do is just go to powepoint and play around with everything. Find out how things work.
Thats its for now.
May the POWER of POINT be with you! :P

Branding; spread the word.
Barabababa I'm lovin it!
McDonald is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear that slogan, right?
Well that's called branding. It's when a company comes up with a catchy phrase or song to represent their product or company. You could call this a kind of symbol. They use that symbol so that when ever you see or hear it, instantly you'll think of their company. We have a new assignment, and that is to think of a company or brand we like the most and make a two minute PowerPoint presentation on it. In our presentation, we have to mention things like: what the company does to get you thinking of their products, what phrases or slogans do they use to capture your attention and why you like the product you chose.
This is a PowerPoint presentation, so don't forget your PowerPoint rules!

Not what it seems.
Today in class, we learned more about how PowerPoint works and all the different functions of it. I always thought that using PowerPoint was easy and not very interesting, because all I did with it was make slides and some pictures and colours and done. But today, I learned that there is more to PowerPoint than I, or probably anyone else, knew about. Who knew PowerPoint could do so much? I sure didn't. =]
Until next time,
Peggy.
Until next time,

Good news for some people, bad news for most.
Hey. First of all, we got our tests back today. Most of us did pretty well for our first test. I know I could surely improve for the next test.
Secondly, we started talking about a new law that is going to be in action in Canada this year. Here it is. If you download any music or movies, you can go to jail or be sued!!
Now you might ask how? Okay good question. That was exactly what I was thinking when I heard about it. Well the law right now is that you can download but not upload. But here's a problem we face when were downloading. When you download something, you are also uploading at the same time without having any knowledge about doing so!
Ill tell you more about it once i learn more facts on it.
But for now, my advice to you is. . . download music and movies while you can, because as soon as the law comes into place, your going to have to pay for it, or WORSE, might go to jail !!

Do you want to teach the audience something, or put them to sleep?
Here's another article i read on how PowerPoint presentations just bore the audience out of their minds and end up not teaching them anything, by Ellen Neuborne.
We all know how horrible it is sitting through a power point presentation not knowing what the presenter is stalking about. Your trying to focus on the speaker but the flashing lights and sounds just distract you and you cant help but get distracted and end up clueless!
In this article, she talks about what rules you should follow in order to have a good PowerPoint presentation. She talks about the mistakes people make when creating a PowerPoint.
-They create messy and hard to read screens. They put all sorts of information on it, when they should really only have key words. In many cases, presenters use their PowerPoint like a script, and they just read right off of it.
-The message they are trying to point out isn't clear. The information you put on your PowerPoint should be relevant to what you are speaking about. Mistakes that are made is that people put information on their PowerPoint, but it has nothing to do with their topic or what they are discussing.
-Don't have images and sounds that distract the audience. One horrible way to sit at a presentation is that if you have something on the screen that is distracting you from the speaker. Try not to put too much flashing lights, sounds and images on your presentation. It should be limited.
-Always pre-check your presentation and device, so that it works. Many people don't pay attention to the fact that they should test the computer, their presentation, projector and anything else they need to present. ''What good is a presentation if it can't be projected?''
Make sure you have spare prints of your presentation ahead of time so that if something happens, you wont be left there wishing you had checked the computer first.
Think about it. Would you rather be bored out of your mind during a presentation or entertained and at the same time educated by it?
So the next time you want to make a presentation, make sure you review the rules, so that you could stand out and impress everyone.
That's all for now,
Peggy

Death by Powerpoint!
Today in class, we had to read an article about how many people mess up their PowerPoint presentations. Of course, most people know how to make a PowerPoint presentation, but do they know how to make a proper one?
Well here's an article I read today, by Andrew Wahl. This article explains about how many people make a presentation but while they are presenting, they bore the audience to death. There are many reasons as to why this happens.
The main point is that when teachers teach you how to make a power point presentation, they just teach you the basics. They don't teach you how to actually present one successfully.
Many people don't follow some rules that apply to presenting well.
It is important that you know how to present in a way that doesn't bore the audience and that they can get something affective out of it.
Now a days, many people and companies and speeches etc, ask you to do a PowerPoint presentation when you are giving information out. PowerPoint is the second most used communication transfer.
In this article we just read, it gives you a few general rules that help you present better, without putting your audience to sleep. The funny thing is that these are the same rules that Mr.Case taught us!
Here's a small review.
-The presenter is the most important part of your presentation.
-Don't make your PowerPoint too long.
-Don't use any pictures or sounds that would distract the audience.
-Always use jot notes.
-Make sure your on the same page as your slide or else you'll look foolish.
-Never look at your PowerPoint when presenting; either use cue cards or look at the little computer.
- Your PowerPoint shouldn't assist you.
One more important things you need to know is the ''B'' key. This is the key that blacks out the screen.
Those were just a few rules you can use to help you in presenting. But of course I had already talked about them, but there is never anything wrong with reviewing them!
