We all know how horrible it is sitting through a power point presentation not knowing what the presenter is stalking about. Your trying to focus on the speaker but the flashing lights and sounds just distract you and you cant help but get distracted and end up clueless!
In this article, she talks about what rules you should follow in order to have a good PowerPoint presentation. She talks about the mistakes people make when creating a PowerPoint.
-They create messy and hard to read screens. They put all sorts of information on it, when they should really only have key words. In many cases, presenters use their PowerPoint like a script, and they just read right off of it.
-The message they are trying to point out isn't clear. The information you put on your PowerPoint should be relevant to what you are speaking about. Mistakes that are made is that people put information on their PowerPoint, but it has nothing to do with their topic or what they are discussing.
-Don't have images and sounds that distract the audience. One horrible way to sit at a presentation is that if you have something on the screen that is distracting you from the speaker. Try not to put too much flashing lights, sounds and images on your presentation. It should be limited.
-Always pre-check your presentation and device, so that it works. Many people don't pay attention to the fact that they should test the computer, their presentation, projector and anything else they need to present. ''What good is a presentation if it can't be projected?''
Make sure you have spare prints of your presentation ahead of time so that if something happens, you wont be left there wishing you had checked the computer first.
Think about it. Would you rather be bored out of your mind during a presentation or entertained and at the same time educated by it?
So the next time you want to make a presentation, make sure you review the rules, so that you could stand out and impress everyone.
That's all for now,
Peggy
