How much do you appreciate the things you have ?

Today in class many of my questions were answered. Questions like why can't i buy lunch every day, or go to the mall with my friends every week and buy things? I would get upset at my parents for not letting me go to the mall as often as i would or buy expensive things. Now i know the reason behind their disapproval, and honestly appreciate their answers now that I'm familiar with how hard it is for them to earn money and support the family. Today, we got familiar with all the basic expenses our parents have to pay for each month, by making a spreadsheet with our expenses and income per month. Income is much less than the expenses, and to make matters worse, every month the government takes a certain percentage of your money so that they can support the poor, and also have money to do things like build roads, schools, houses and more. Depending on the amount of money you make per month, the government takes away some of it. And the more you earn, the more the government will take away from you. Trying to figure out how to run the family budget and keep food on the table is very difficult, but fortunately we can use excel to try figuring out what expenses are best for the family. You can use excel to see what things are needed and what things can wait for a while. Although its difficult work, i appreciate the things my parents do to keep me happy. So the next time i want to ask them for something, ill think twice about it, now that i know how hard it is to keep the family going.
